My approach to treating patients
The "Orthopaedic Team" at Tulane Hospital for Children starts with the child as the center of the team, which also includes the parents, Dr. Bennett, his pediatric nurse coordinator, Julie, his resident (a licensed physician who is studying under Dr. Bennett in order to learn to become an orthopaedic surgeon) and other health care professionals, usually pediatric physical and occupational therapists.
So important is this team concept that Dr. Bennett will often request that reports from the various therapies be hand carried to your child's visit. In that way everyone is "there" at your child's visit including the therapists who are likely seeing your child at facilities near your home.
Since Katrina, Tulane has been completely remodeled and equipped with the latest technology including the O-ARM, a 3 D imaging system linked to software that allows computer assisted navigation in complex spine deformity surgery.
Tulane is the only hospital in Louisiana and Mississippi that has this technology.
