As a fellowship trained Musculoskeletal Oncologist my primary clinical focus deals with the treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors in adult and pediatric patients. This includes both primary musculoskeletal tumors and metastatic bone disease.
A multidisciplinary approach is utilized to diagnose and treat patients with these rare bone and soft tissue tumors. We accomplish this task by working closely as a team of health care professionals. The team consists of myself, a musculoskeletal radiologist, pathologist, radiation oncologist, adult medical oncologist, pediatric medical oncologist, and other medical specialists and support services.
The treatment of musculoskeletal tumors may include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy in varying combinations, individualized to each patient and their specific condition. Whether dealing with benign or malignant lesions; the specific type of tumor, the location of the tumor, and the overall medical and psychological condition of each patient is evaluated to determine the most appropriate care.
It is imperative for patients to be active members in the diagnostic evaluation and in the decision making process for their treatments. To be able to do this, patients need to understand their disease process and all the treatment options available to them. I encourage you to visit the "patient information" section, the "office forms and info" section, and the "links to other sites" section of this website to access information useful to you.
My other professional areas of interest include joint reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, trauma, and general orthopaedics. Whether you're making the decision for orthopaedic care or want to expand your knowledge, this website can help you become informed and more confident about the incredible realm of orthopaedic treatments available.
