United States Olympic Team, Physician volunteer, July 1998; wrote and directed an Award winning videotape, "Arthroscopically Assisted Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Utilizing Double Looped Hamstring Tendons", AAOS Committee on Audio-visual education, 1994; Privileged to have taught other Orthopaedic Surgeons from around the world the latest arthroscopic techniques through AANA (since 1992)and in Vietnam as Orthopaedic Overseas volunteer; Authored 4 published medical textbook chapters, 7 scientific papers, 2 instructional videotapes; quoted in Wall Street Journal, April 1, 1997 re: Columbia's joint venturing with physicians; Team Physician for many years for local sports teams.
Community Involvement
Sports Medicine is of special interest to us. You will see our office décor reflects this. In 1998, the United States Olympic Committee honored Dr. Williams by selecting him as a team physician for the US Olympic Team. Dr. Williams volunteered at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as the US Olympic Team Physician. It was here that he treated the United States', as well visiting countries', Olympic athletes. After his participation, he was also invited to the United States Olympic Sports Medicine Society and continues to be a member today. In 2008, Dr. Williams was appointed to the Florida State Boxing Commission by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist to fill the physician slot on the 5 member state panel for a term expiring September 30, 2010. Dr. Mark Williams' extensive Sports Medicine education and experience allows state of the art principles of Sports Medicine to be used for all patients whether or not they play sports. We work closely with parents, trainers, and coaches to provide safe, rewarding experiences for athletes. Our Sports Medicine experience is applied to all age groups, including our injured workers. We understand our patient's desires to return to the athletic field, the workplace, or their usual activities as soon as possible.
Sports Medicine Experience:
Privileged to have current and previous patients from NFL, Major League Baseball, PGA / Senior PGA and Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA). Member, PGA Medical Team (The Boeing Championship at Sandestin, May 11-14, 2006 and June 1-3, 2007); US Olympic Team Physician; Team Physician volunteer for local high schools (including Bay, Mosley, and Rutherford) and Gulf Coast Community College; completed Sports Medicine Fellowship in Los Angeles and have had Sports Medicine practice in Panama City since 1993. Florida State Boxing Commissioner 06-23-08 to 09-30-2010.
International Lecturer, Author, & Instructor:
Presenter of talks and papers throughout the world, including Asia and Europe; Author of numerous surgery textbook chapters and peer reviewed scientific journal articles, and wrote and produced an award winning surgery instructional videotape; Instructor of current arthroscopic & Sports Medicine techniques to practicing orthopaedic surgeons from around the world through the Arthroscopy Association of North America (1992 through 2003).
Medical Missionary:
In 1998, Dr. Mark Williams was an Orthopaedic Overseas volunteer with an Orthopaedic team from Harvard Medical School on a medical mission to Vietnam; taught Vietnamese surgeons new orthopaedic surgical techniques; lectured medical students on shoulder anatomy at Vietnam Medical School in Hue, Vietnam.

When you call or come by or office, one of our friendly staff members will schedule your appointment and obtain records from any other doctors who can provide background on your case. Our Nurse Practioner, Kristen Floyd, ARNP, may ask you about your medical history and may even begin the fundamentals of your examination. She also serves as Dr. Williams' assistant surgeon in the operating room. Our in-office X-ray department offers convenient same day X-rays by our technician, Amy Mapp. Our front office coordinator, Beverly Daniels, will assist you in scheduling any necessary tests or surgeries. She is assisted by our receptionist Beth Trevathan who will help obtain any previous medical records which are helpful as we frequently evaluate patients for "Second Opinions" with or without previous surgery, and/or insurance Independant Medical Evaluations or IME's. Our in-house insurance billing department, led by Machelle Miles and assisted by Becky Smith allows us to assist you with filing your medical insurance on your behalf.
