Approach to Treating Patients
Boise Orthopedic Clinic is one of the oldest orthopedic clinics in continuous existence in Idaho. It began in 1951 as a solo practice on West Jefferson Street. As the clinic grew and expanded, its main office moved to the Hartman Medical Building on the campus of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Today, Boise Orthopedic Clinic consists of ten orthopedic surgeons, three physician assistants and a nurse practitioner. All orthopedic surgeons at BOC practice general orthopedics, but each has a special interest or fellowship training in one or more subspecialty areas.

Boise Orthopedic clinic has an extremity magnetic resonance imager in its Hartman Medical Building office. It is used for studies of the foot, ankle, knee, hand, wrist and elbow. The imager provides non-claustrophobic MRI services quickly and conveniently. The patient's body is located outside the scanner, with just the extremity being studied inserted in the magnet. This design provides a stress-free examination during which the patient can read, sleep or converse with a family member or our MRI technician. Unlike whole-body systems, the extremity scanner is virtually silent, making the examination a pleasant experience. BOC physicians work in partnership with a board certified radiologist who interprets the MRI results.

Community Activities
In addition to their professional practices, the orthopedists at Boise Orthopedic Clinic have been and continue to be active in community, hospital and medical affairs. Current BOC physicians have served as chairman of the department of orthopedics, president of the medical staff, and been founders of the Orthopaedic Institute and of St. Alphonsus Physical Therapy Institute. Boise Orthopedic Clinic physicians are the team physicians for the Idaho Steelheads West Coast Hockey League and Idaho Stampede Continental Basketball Association professional sports teams.
