My approach to treating patients
My practice focuses on problems with the hip and knee in all age groups, from athletic injuries in younger patients and degenerative arthritic disease and joint replacement in the older population. I have developed the Vision Total Hip System, a widely recognized and used total hip replacement system which has been in use extensively for the past 10 years which avoids the use of cement in all age groups, substantially prolonging the lifespan of the replacement, even in young, active and athletic patients. I have worked on developing new surgical instruments for minimally invasive partial knee replacement which has revolutioned the treatment of knee arthritis in the 30% of patients whose knee arthritis involves only part of their knee. I offer my patients many alternatives to treating these problems based on the patients age, activity level and expectations. These include traditional hip and knee surgery, arthroscopic techniques in both the hip and knee, Birmingham hip resurfacing, and minimally invasive techniques including partial knee replacement, as well as replacements utilizing state of the art bearing surfaces such as ceramics, as well as the newest technology which is Anterior Supine Intermuscular total hip replacement, the only hip replacement surgery which involves NO cutting of muscles thereby having the quickest recovery and return to normal function. Our patients get individual attention and are given as much time as they need so that all their questions and concerns are dealt with. I have been consistently listed among the the top orthopedic surgeons in New York in Castle and Connolly's Guide to the top orthopedic surgeons in New York City, the consumer research council"s "Top Physicians in America", New York Super Doctors as well as receiving numerous teaching awards. I am the Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, listed in New York SuperDoctors and America's Top Doctors.
