Community activities
Dr. Kohler-Ekstrand is involved with cutting edge research for the treatment of ligament tears. "One of my Olympic equestrian athletes has been able to avoid surgery to her elbow from a unique new procedure using the patients own plasma, which is a blood product", she notes with a glow on her face. She further adds: "This is a non-surgical way to help the body heal partial tears of tendons at different locations". Dr. Kohler-Ekstrand works a lot with patients on prevention of injuries and rehabilitation if needed. "When all else fails surgery may be needed but the good news is most can be performed low invasive with arthroscopic surgery", continues Dr. Kohler-Ekstrand.
